BIE in brief
BIE (Business Information Entity) is a derivation (extension and restriction, also known as a profile) of a shared CC (Core Component).
BIE Content
While BIEs are mainly created by connectCenter end users, they may also be created by connectCenter developers.
Manage End User Code Lists
End users can access code list management to create code lists to be used for restricting fields in an End User Core Component and BIE.
Manage End User Agency ID Lists
Agency ID List management has its own page which can be accessed under the "Core Component" menu.
Manage Context
A business context is required to create a BIE.
Manage BIE
It is recommended that the user reads first the BIE in brief section (BIE in brief).
Manage BIE Package
A BIE Package bundles multiple top-level BIEs so that they can be versioned, promoted, and expressed together as a single unit.
Manage OpenAPI Document
OpenAPI document management functionality allows end users to generate and merge multiple OpenAPI YML files into one file. This functionality creates an OpenAPI 3.x persistence layer in the connectCenter database and provides UI to support API Specification Management.
Manage Business Terms
Business term management allows end users to create or import business terms from other data dictionary applications, such as an enterprise data dictionary, and assign those business terms to data elements in the data exchange standard. connectCenter is not intended to be a data dictionary management application itself. This is the reason each business term entity in connectCenter has only a few fields, mainly for representing the identity of the business term.
Common functions
The controls described on this page — the search bar, the advanced search filters, filterable drop-down lists, commenting, and the message page — work the same way wherever they appear in connectCenter, on BIE pages as well as on Core Component, context, and account pages.
